Sterilisation operator vacancy
SALARY: R163 680 per annum
CENTRE: Oudtshoorn Hospital
REQUIREMENTS: Minimum educational qualification: General Education and Training Certificate (GETC)/Grade 9 (Std 7). Experience: Appropriate experience in a hospital environment. Inherent requirements of the job: Willingness to work shifts (day and night duty), including weekends and public holidays. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Good interpersonal relations skills. Physically fit to lift heavy objects, push heavy trolleys, bend down, and stay on their feet for long hours. Ability to work in a cooperative way within a team context. Good communication skills (written and verbal).
DUTIES: Collect and deliver soiled and clean linen and packs to and from the theatre and wards. Effective application of sterilisation processes and techniques, and promote/adhere to infection control as well as health and safety regulations. Decontaminate, pack and sterilise instruments, linen, and supplies. Assist with cleaning and testing of sterilisation equipment, washing machines and autoclaves. Maintain equipment in an optimum working condition. Cost-effective utilisation of resources, monitor, control, and maintain adequate stock levels. Report and assist with the investigation of lost instruments/equipment. Support for the supervisor and team members.
